Brihaspati was established in 1999 basically to augment interest in the Bangla language among the Bengali people of Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Thane districts of Maharashtra, India. For this purpose, Brihaspati has published the 1st Bangla newspaper, the 1st Bangla Magazine, the 1st Bangla Web Magazine, and the 1st Bangla Web TV Channel of Mumbai, India. This endeavour has allowed interested people to write and read their mother tongue. Besides, Brihaspati has established several Bengali language learning centres in the vicinity and has initiated to establish the Nikhil Bharat Banga Sahitya Sammelan Madhya Mumbai Shakha in 2006 (a branch of the All India Bengali Literary Conference, established in 1922). Moreover, it has started the 1st College Certificate course on Bangla Language in Mumbai, jointly with Sathaye College, Mumbai, India in 2017 for Bengali and non-Bengali learners to learn Bangla language. The resolute endeavour is going on.
